Host and Guest centers around two men, one Muslim and one Christian, who befriend each other despite their cultures' long-standing hatred. The people from both of their Georgian villages punish them violently for their friendship, and the entire community is shattered by war. The conflict between individual morality and ancient community prejudices causes the central tragedy of this moving piece.

Host and Guest, written by Roland Reed, is based on an epic poem from the Republic of Georgia. Vazha Pshavela wrote the original poem around the turn of the 20th century, and it has become a classic of Georgian literary culture. This passionate drama resounds with connections to modern conflicts all over the world.

The theatrical style of Synetic Theater lends itself beautifully to cross-cultural performances, and the company plans to share their work and vision with people from around the world.
